6 Week Puppy Training Class
Time & Location
About The Event
What Training Covers :
Our puppy training class runs for six weeks, with one class per week. Each class will cover puppy basics and specific training cues, including reviews of previous weeks’ cues. You will also have “homework” to work with your puppy throughout the week. To get the best results from training, we recommend 30 minutes of training each day, spread across 6-10 mini training sessions. It’s vital to only work while your puppy is showing interest, so some sessions may end up being as short as 3 minutes. You and your puppy should enjoy the training sessions!
Week 1: We will review house training, crate training, vaccines, and appropriate doggy gear and treats. Cues: Food lure, Respond to name, and Sit.
Week 2: We will review socialization, nutrition, toxic foods/plants, and children and dogs. Cues: Come/Recall (Puppy in the middle), Down, and Stay.
Week 3: We will review all things with the mouth this week: chewing, teething, and biting/nipping. Cues: Heel and Loose Leash walking.
Week 4: We will review digging, running, and bolting. Cues: Place (teaching pup to sit on a mat or rug), Leave it, and Release.
Week 5: We will review appropriate barking behavior. Cues: Quiet and Speak.
Week 6: For the final week we will have a puppy “show and tell”, plus we will review all cues and have a graduation ceremony!
